With Giorgio Armani himself as a benefactor and her designs selling like hotcakes once they hit the shop floor, Stella Jean is enjoying quite the debut. The 34-year-old first worked with the International Trade Centre to source for the ethnic prints made by women living in the villages of Burkina Faso. Then, she created stiff, poufy skirts, full trapeze jackets and strict pencil skirts featuring glittery pineapples, avocados, parrots and zebras. Not your usual proposition, but it’s a bold one that paid off.
